The San Francisco based "Bee Token" ICO ran from Jan 31st to yesterday Feb 3rd - but on day one the team behind the ICO began receiving word people were getting e-mails asking participants to send money to wallet addresses not belonging to Bee Token.
Twitter user SolidCrypto received one of these e-mails and tweeted...
In response, Bee Token issues a number of warnings to users that the ICO was taking place only via their official website - but that wasn't enough.
Please do not fund ETH to addresses that have the following warning: "Warning! There are reports that this address was used in a (BeeToken) Phishing scam." pic.twitter.com/cKmpZPa5gT— The Bee Token (@thebeetoken) January 31, 2018
The scammers used a variety of wallet addresses in their e-mails - these wallets now hold over $1 Million USD worth of Ethereum from scammed participants.
